i have several plans:
1 – create a forum for craftsmen to sell their products directly to individual buyers, like an eBay for handcrafted products. I’m thinking like felt hats and leather boots kind of crafts, not really Martha Stewart kind of crafts. Dying crafts is what I’m going for. Handmade pocket watches. Real candles with not overwhelming scents. Maybe furniture. I want there to be a general unifying aesthetic to the products offered. Nothing Ikea-ish. Nothing too understated. Just good, cut-to-the-chase quality products. A motto? how about: life is better with better stuff.
I realized I wanted to do this after visiting an amazing felt hat store in Quebec City. I got into a long conversation with the owner, and she shared with me her theory of good things. I’ll try to find the name of the store and post it.
